Emerging Technologies

Supporting teachers and students with digital learning requires a leader that recognizes the unique tools and possibilities included in their implementation.  There are many frequently used resources available to eMINTS classrooms.  Understanding some of these available tools and communicating and encouraging their usage is a key role for administrators.

In the article Ten Roles for Teacher Leaders (http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/sept07/vol65/num01/Ten-Roles-for-Teacher-Leaders.aspx) one of the most important roles we have is to locate and share great resources with our teachers and students so that they may use them in the classroom.

As the teachers and students are introduced to using their Chromebooks in your building, many tools are available to them that are not necessarily the tools they may have previously used.  A building administrator that understands commonly used Chromebook tools for learning would prove beneficial to the process.

Task #3-You will be creating a Digital Tool Representation.  This representation can be used to share general information about the tool, how it is used, and about it’s benefits for learning for teachers and students in your building.

First, use the following template when creating your Digital Tool Representation:
Digital Tool Representation Template https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HQZpRw5xQkVn7BUnciqw6NQI2kt466uSKv3wq8Lqc7M/copy

Then, locate a tool you want to examine for this representation.  Select and create an example using a tool from the list below or any other tool that you have found that is available for usage in a classroom with Chromebooks.  Consider the possibilities of how the students and teachers might use it in their classrooms.  Locate any tutorials, tips, tricks and examples that you believe will help others with using this tool.  Finally, consider how you can share your digital tool representation with teachers and students in your building.

Here are some resources to help you locate tools and ideas to share:
